Featured Dive Site- Log 5 Playa Paraiso
Each month we will take the opportunity to feature a dive site as we give you an account of a recent dive here with us at Paradise Divers. This month we have chosen Playa Paraiso.
Location: Playa Paraiso is a local dive site for us being just 5 mins drive away. It is situated on the SW coast and has something to offer everyone!
Entry/ Exits: Steps lead down to the beach! Beach entry and exit into a small confined beach area.
What to see: Paraiso is always a delight to dive as we never know quite what we will see! Lots of gold lined bream will follow your bubbles, pygmy file fish, trumpet fish, octopus and cuttlefish, parrotfish and of course there is always a good chance to sight the rays.
Difficulty/Depth: 3-25m. There are several options for dives here with every level happily catered for. The volcanic reef is between 7m-18m with a drop off into a bay as an option for a deeper dive 25m. Paraiso is also ideal for training dives. |

Log: We walked into high-water into the bay so it was fins on and out towards the descent. We descended into 5m and all was good. Viz was good 20m and so we headed towards the mushroom rocks. There were lots of small rainbow wrasse over the mushrooms and we already had a trail of gold lined bream following. As we arrived at the edge of the reef we were greeted with a BIG bull ray! Just on the sand, he was covered in a swarm of zebra bream as he kicked up all the sand on the bottom. He glided round to say hello and then disappeared up the reef. We continued round onto the reef and turned to head back. On our return we came across a cuttlefish completing a colour display and an octopus that wouldn’t play! 50 bar was shown so we completed our safety stop and headed on up and in to the beach. A good dive had and ready for a cup of tea! |
